If it were me, and I didn't have a way to use a scan tool to turn the solenoid on, I'd test the EBCM ground wire #5 (tan) on the harness for resistance as directed (less than 25 ohms.) If that's good then I'd check the solenoid itself either with an ohm check and/or applying 12 volts to it manually with the harness disconnected and see if you can hear it clicking. However, it does say that it's going to be either an open in the wiring, a bad brake booster assembly, or a bad EBCM. It assumes you have a scan tool to toggle the solenoid on and off, though. There is a whole section in there on the C0299. Download the whole thing (click the download arrow button at the upper right-the whole thing is 425M) and then go to the Antilock brakes section. I found a service manual for the 2008 online. If you can drive around for a while before it comes on then it's usually a vacuum problem.īelow is the info you need. Something else I read was that if the code comes up right away when you start the vehicle then it's probably a circuit problem. If it's open or really high resistance, like up in the kohm range, then it's bad. Just a guess, but a good solenoid will usually have around 10-20 ohms of resistance. Assuming you don't have that capability, if you can find the purple/white and tan wires going to the booster you may be able to do an ohm check on the solenoid. If the -00 info is correct, then the best way to test this is with a scan tool that can turn that solenoid on and off. ![]() I would assume (and I could be wrong) that the PCM switches the solenoid with 12v power, and the ground on the other side is monitored (the arrow) so the EBCM knows when it's activated and knows if the solenoid is working or not and can set a code to let you know when it's not working. The other side looks like a power-side switch. I'm not familiar with the symbol inside the EBCM that is the box with a ground, and an arrow pointing to the left, but a box with a ground is often the symbol for a case ground. ![]() ![]() There is a solenoid right next to it, to the left, that says "Power Brake Booster." It doesn't say "solenoid" but the box with a diagonal line is the symbol for a solenoid. The one you're referring to is the brake booster vacuum sensor. ![]()
